The Dawson blog...

My blog has very quickly become my way of documenting all of the kids, especially Dawson's, funny comments. I can just print out the blog pages for his baby book & all our friends & family can enjoy the funny stories as well. That being said, here are Dawson's funny moments from the last couple of weeks.

1. Dawson is eating jello..."Mom, does Andi like jello?"
me- "Hmmm...I am not sure."
Dawson- "You should really find out."

2. Dawson tells me all the time "Mom, you are a sad, strange little girl." (quote from toy story)
He also asks me "Mom, are you my conscience?" (from Finding Nemo)

3. The other day I got a little chilly & I went & put on a new long sleeve shirt Derek had just got me from New York. When I walked into the room Dawson exclaimed "That's a cool shirt little Mama!"

4. While eating dinner, Dawson said "These pictures on the wall are a little dusty over here...and the wall is a little dusty too."

5. The other night I was putting him to bed, following our usual routine, when he suddenly stopped & looked at me. He said, "Okay mom...you can go now." And he even flicked his wrist to motion me out of the room. Trying not to burst out laughing, and slightly taken aback, I kind of fumbled around as I quickly told him goodnight & left...I have never been 'kicked out' of his room before!

6. Today the kiddos were wrestling on the couch. Dawson said "I am a little bit nervous right now. I'm a little bit nervous that Andi is going to hurt me. We don't want to freak out." I was very impressed that he used the word 'nervous', and in the right context.

He just turned three, but he talks like a little adult! GEEZ!

We no likey Ikey...

Well, I am finally getting around to blogging about our Ike experience. First, we were tremendously blessed because the inside of our home suffered NO damage at all! We had to use about 20 towels to mop up puddles around the doors, but that was it for the interior of the house. The exterior of the house just had crazy tree damage & the fence blown down...like everyone else. This storm proved to be way more intense than I had bargained for. Right during the worst part of the storm I realized that I was NOT COMFORTABLE at all being there with my kiddos. But, we made the decision to stay based on our 22 hour trip to the Woodlands (normally a 1 hour trip for you out-of-towners) that we took evacuating during the last hurricane. However, the next one that heads our way...we will definitely leave. After the second day without power, we decided to go to Georgetown, TX to visit family until things calmed down here a little bit & it was easier to get supplies like gas & milk. Today, Derek's good friend Patrick, came over & helped us clear our backyard....they had to completely cut down my favorite tree... the shade will be greatly missed. All that said, I am still just BLOWN away by how blessed we were to only have the damage that we had. The back of the house

Backyard by the swingset

Boarding up the windows. Dawson is outside helping & Andi is inside watching.

'Helping' Dada cut plywood. This is as close as he gets to the saw, loud noises scare him.

Dawson being cute all snuggled up before bed.

This is about 2 or 3am. It was too loud for the kids to sleep then, and we are playing with the flashlights to keep them occupied.

Poor Andi, was terrified by the noise of the storm. She finally fell asleep around 6am.

Here is our chimney...laying on our patio, the tree knocked it off.

Sniff, Sniff...another view of my favorite backyard tree
However, the kids were really excited that their swingset was unharmed.
The front of our house

In the heat, watching the chainsaw with Mamaw

How cute are they in their underwear...I especially love the very soggy, droopy diaper!

Mark helping Dada get the trees off the house

The kids checking out the mess...yes, dawson is picking his nose.

And, this was the beautiful sunset the night after the storm...

Mash Potatos

Today when I went to put Dawson down for his nap, I told him to pick out his book for me to read like usual. He chose 'You are Special' by Max Lucado...one of his favorites. Before I could start reading it to him, he started reciting the cover...

"You are Special...by Mash Potato" I began laughing histerically & actually wondered how many times Max has been called that before. Dawson later that evening decided one of his trains should be named Mash Potato as well.

My Little Mimmick

Imagine this...more funny Dawson stories.

1. Tonight, Dawson stepped on my foot...well, more like his foot slid down the top of my foot...ANYWAY, it HURT like CAARAAZZY! I was ooohhh-in & ahhh-in, and rolling around in pain. Dawson asked me, "mom, are you sad?" (he was afraid he was in trouble) I told him "No, baby, that just hurt Mommy's foot." Then Dawson said, "OHHH...You are just freaking out, hu? Just freaking out a little bit?" NOW, I WONDER WHERE HE HEARD THAT.

2. Also tonight, Dawson said, completely out of the blue, "Man, you guys are KILLIN' me!" Again, it was like I was looking at myself.

3. Last story. The other day, Dawson was purposely mimmicking everything that I said/ did. It was pretty funny & we were both laughing. Dawson said, "Mom, I'm coffee-ing you!

My Little Soccer Boy

OHHH the fun we are having with soccer...and it hasn't even started yet!We went yesterday & let Dawson pick out his gear

After he found the blue ball he wanted
in the car on the way home...
AND, what he wore the next day! I am surprised he didn't ask to sleep in them!

We took him to the little soccer field around the corner to practice. He kept saying "My friends & coach will be here in just a little bit" He didn't really understand it wasn't real practice.

The Peek-a-Boo Dada Game

The kids love this peek a boo game they play with Derek. He peeks around the corner at them, but magically appears at the top of the ceiling one time, then down by the floor the next...They think it is the funniest thing ever. Here is a pic & video of it.

First Day of School

The kids had their first day of school, Mother's Day Out at our church, this last Thursday. I was so ready for the school year to begin. Trying to be a stay at home mom & somehow work 20+ hours a week is next to impossible during the summer break. Plus, I think the kids were ready to see & do new things other than just hang with Mom all day. These pics are of the kids before we left the house...Dawson was having one of THOSE mornings. (You have to open your eyes really wide when you say the word 'THOSE' in that last sentence.
When we got to school, Dawson was MUCH, MUCH better once he was with his best buddy Jonathan. I am sooooo glad they ended up in the same class!

Here is Andi in her class...she refused to look at me. It was like she was already embarrassed by me! Too funny!

Labor Day Weekend

We spent the entire Labor Day weekend at a beach house in Surfside. Saturday of that weekend was Granna's party, but these pics are highlights from the rest of our weekend. We had beautiful weather despite the close call hurricane Gustav. This was the night we got to the beach house. Andi & Dawson are playing with the Dominos with Granna. There are two vidoes of this at the bottom because the kids (especially andi) cracked up hysterically when the dominoes fell over.

FLYING!

all done with the beach elements...

jumping waves
holding my hand...I love this pic.

watching 'peter plan' as dawson calls it...relaxin before bed.

the last day at the beach...andi kept begging to get back in the car. She was ALL DONE with the beach. So, she spent an hour in the back seat of gramps truck. These next few pics are of her playing peek-a-boo with me in the truck.

my sweet boy LOVES the beach...any type of water really...but especially the beach.
