Well, I am finally getting around to blogging about our Ike experience. First, we were tremendously blessed because the inside of our home suffered NO damage at all! We had to use about 20 towels to mop up puddles around the doors, but that was it for the interior of the house. The exterior of the house just had crazy tree damage & the fence blown down...like everyone else. This storm proved to be way more intense than I had bargained for. Right during the worst part of the storm I realized that I was NOT COMFORTABLE at all being there with my kiddos. But, we made the decision to stay based on our 22 hour trip to the Woodlands (normally a 1 hour trip for you out-of-towners) that we took evacuating during the last hurricane. However, the next one that heads our way...we will definitely leave. After the second day without power, we decided to go to Georgetown, TX to visit family until things calmed down here a little bit & it was easier to get supplies like gas & milk. Today, Derek's good friend Patrick, came over & helped us clear our backyard....they had to completely cut down my favorite tree... the shade will be greatly missed. All that said, I am still just BLOWN away by how blessed we were to only have the damage that we had.
The back of the house
Backyard towards baseball field
Backyard by the swingset
Boarding up the windows. Dawson is outside helping & Andi is inside watching.
'Helping' Dada cut plywood. This is as close as he gets to the saw, loud noises scare him.
Dawson being cute all snuggled up before bed.
This is about 2 or 3am. It was too loud for the kids to sleep then, and we are playing with the flashlights to keep them occupied.
Poor Andi, was terrified by the noise of the storm. She finally fell asleep around 6am.

Those photos are crazy! Did y'all stay the whole time?
We had no internal damage either, just a mess of a yard and a broken fence.
Totally adorable children, by the way. Duh!
Great pictures.... sorry about all the damage.. thinking of you guys!
